The 18thC Long brass and black wood Dirk
18thC Scottish Highland dirk in brass and black wood. The dirk was the iconic Scottish dagger and is an absolute must have for Highland warriors for centuries.
This is a big knife as all dirks were, and was designed to be held in the off hand with a targe shield, with a blade long enough that it poked out the edge of the targe. So if you still hanker to run with Bonnie Prince Charlie with your kilt flying, this is the knife for you.
Brass haunches, a cylindrical beaded black wood grip and brass pommel, so it looks all 'dirk' but is easier to wear and use for tasks.
It has a fully functional, 13"/33cm single edged blade with file work spine and comes with a with a period appropriate decorated naturally tanned leather sheath and brass (latten) chape. Available in black, brown, red, green and new blue.
We have 3 sizes of this style; the Sgian Dhu, the short brass and black wood dirk, and the long brass and black wood dirk. Available individually or as a set.
Overall length 17.25"/44cm
Blade length 13"/33cm
Grip length 3.25"/8cm
The 18thC Short brass and dark wood Dirk
The dirk was always a big knife, often with blades of 14"/35cm or more and unless you are still fighting amongst the glens and lochs, it is not that useable on a daily basis. So we have brought you a perfectly styled late 17th/early 18thC Scottish dirk but with a shorter overall length of 10.75"/27cm to fit better in the modern world allowing it to be a far more useable EDC.

The Sgian Dhu
18thC Scottish Sgain Dhu traditional dress sock dagger. This iconic Scottish dagger is an absolute must have and was worn by Highland warriors for centuries.
Well not quite. The Sgain Dhu or 'black dagger' actually never existed before the mid 19thC and is a complete fiction, but is utterly embedded in popular culture and we are often asked about them, so we decided to offer one.
Our Sgian Dhu is a reduced version of a full size late 17thC/early 18thC Scottish dirk, the true fighting knife of the Scots, so IF the Sgain Dhu existed, it may well have looked very much like this. Brass haunches, a black wood grip and flattened brass pommel so it looks all 'dirk' but will sit close and comfortably to your body when worn in a sock.
It has a fully functional, single edged blade with file work spine and comes with a with a period decorated naturally tanned leather sheath and brass chape.
We have 3 sizes of this style; the Sgian Dhu, the short brass and black wood dirk, and the long brass and black wood dirk. Available individually or as a set.
Overall length 8.25"/20.5cm
Blade length 4.25"/11cm
Grip length 3.25"/8cm
As our knives are handmade, these measurements may vary very slightly between examples.
If your order states it is a pre-order, it will be shipped by the end of September.
