SHIPS MID JAN 2026
This is a new version of an old favourite.
The dudgeon dagger followed on with clear lineage from the earlier bollock dagger and was popular, particularly in Northern England and Scotland from around 1570 - 1660 by which time it had been superceded by the Scottish Dirk. The dating makes this a perfect dagger for the early colonisation of Northern America and for Border Rievers. The grip clearly retains some of the anatomical styling and the impact plate/guard of the bollock dagger, but is progressively getting more stylised. These were never large daggers, but were much more of a ‘handy in a tight spot’ format with a 22cm/8.5” blade and a compact handle.
The hard wood grip is finished off with a brass peen button and two decorative washers passing through the lobes and the knife comes with a diamond section double edged blade. The double layer naturally tanned sheath features inside decoration and is suspended on cords and is fitted with a period appropriate brass chape.
Overall length 33cm/13"
Blade length 22cm/8.5”
Grip length 11cm/4.25"
Edge sharpness
Semi-Sharp is 'butter knife sharp'; it has a very fine flat on the edge
Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.
