This 15thC medieval rondel dagger is a classic Knights and professional soldiers side weapon and was used massively in the second half of the 100 years war between France and England by both sides. It has a stout, long and strong single edged blade that was so typical of rondel daggers like this and features some decorative file work to the spine. The rondel discs are formed from hollow sheet and brazed to reduce weight and ash wood grip has flutes cut in to aid grip and the top rondel is fitted with a decorated latten (brass) peen button.

The double layer naturally tanned leather sheath is suspended from a cord passing through an interlaced feature and it is decorated front and rear with simple incised decoration and finished with a decorated latten chape.

Blade length 33cm/13"”

Overall length 45cm/17.75”

Grip length 10.5cm/4.25"”

Edge sharpness

Semi-Sharp is 'butter knife sharp'; it has a very fine flat on the edge

Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.

Please note: The colours may vary in tone from the photos here.  Each skin of leather is different and reacts differently to the dye so they may be darker or lighter in tone
