This 14th and 15thC quillon dagger is very closely based on one in the Musee de l’Armee in Paris and is a mysterious piece.
It is noted as being 14th or early 15th century and is probably French or German, but although there are similar daggers, none have the zoomorphic/beast heads on the very distinctive brass pommel.
The blade is single edged and has a steel cross guard and this combination is often found on 13THC quillon daggers, so it is conceivable it may be even earlier. Either way it is a member of a fabulous and very distinctive dagger form that is rarely found on the reproduction market. Perfect for knights and Chevaliers everywhere!
Comes with a double layer naturally tanned leather sheath, brass chape and ash handle scales.
