The Sword Seax
This stunning Anglo Saxon and Viking lang seax is a classic weapon from the 10th and 11th centuries and was a serious warriors secondary weapon. The blade is long for a lang seax, but is modelled very closely on the dimensions of the Seax of Beagnoth in the British Museum and is definitely more sword than knife.
The hand forged blade is 1060 spring steel and is of the classic ‘broken back’ type that was very current in this period and thickens slightly from handle to the ‘break’ giving the knife/sword a tonne of authority.
It has a long grip in ash and horn, decorated with dot and circle motifs and finished with brass details.
The sheath is plated with etched brass plates and the sheath is carved and the whole piece comes with a very typical baldric and suspension system, again with brass fittings.A second belt was usually worn over the suspension to hold the weapon close to the body.
A viciously beautiful piece.

The Everyday Carry Seax
The classic Viking and Saxon fighting knife is the longseax and we have a lovely version of this, but it is a large knife and difficult to wear in an everyday modern context so Tod Cutler has brought you the EDC seax.
It keeps all the classic ‘Vikingness’ of the lang seax but in a small enough package for every day wear. The blade is a strong and robust broken back single edged piece fitted into a horn and wood grip and housed in a naturally tanned leather sheath suspended on a loop for maximum security.
Edge sharpness
Knife comes semi-sharp or sharp.
Semi-Sharp is 'butter knife sharp'; it has a very fine flat on the edge
