This style of medieval eating knife was popular for a long period from around 1250 to 1550 and was often found in the trading areas of the channel and North Sea.
The carbon steel blade is stamped with the Tod Cutler makers mark and is fitted with brass handle scales. This is a lovely and neat lower middle class or aspiring peasant eating knife.
The scabbard has carved decoration and is finished with a ‘tabbed’ hanging point.
