Bone Santiago pilgrim shell.
The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela was the most popular pilgrim route in Europe and of course the scallop shell was the symbol of St James and so small pilgrim badges and pendants like this were found all over Europe.
This carved bone shell was based on a Thames find and can be sewn onto clothing or worn as a pendant with the addition of a piece of cord or chain (not included).
