Bundled together is this handsome pair of brass handled knives for a discounted price. 

The Scottish Dirk was the classic dagger of both the Highland and Lowland Scots from the early 17thC through to the modern day as a Regimental weapon and was originally a development of the older bollock dagger.

This Scottish Dirk is characterised by a solid, barrel shaped grip, usually wood or metal, in this case Brass, with a twisted tang button and a long single edged blade.  The pommel top is decorated with a flower pattern and the dagger comes with a simple double layer vegetable tanned leather sheath.  

Please note that the ‘actual grip’ on dirks are always short and the hand is intended to partially cover the haunches. 

THE DIRK IN THIS BUNDLE WILL BE SHARP. IF SEMI SHARP IS REQUIRED PLEASE ADVISE IN THE NOTES.

Edge sharpness

Semi-Sharp is 'butter knife sharp'; it has a very fine flat on the edge

Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.

This style of medieval eating knife was popular for a long period from around 1250 to 1550 and was often found in the trading areas of the channel and North Sea. 

The carbon steel blade is stamped with the Tod Cutler makers mark and is fitted with brass handle scales. This is a lovely and neat lower middle class or aspiring peasant eating knife.

The scabbard has carved decoration and is finished with a ‘tabbed’ hanging point.
