THE CLEAVER FALCHION
13th to 14thC medieval cleaver falchion sword popular with Crusaders. It is from the same type as the Conyers Falchion, an Iconic sword. An Elmslie 1a typology. Of all the falchion styles it is most optimised for cutting and cleaving! Crusaders and low level soldiers loved this small handy and efficient sword through the 13th and 14th centuries right across Europe.
The cleaver falchion blade is short and handy in a tight place and although the blade widens massively toward the tip, the extreme distal taper ensures this sword is light and nimble in the hand. The blade is thinned (just like the originals) 2.6mm at 18cm from the guard. These wide, thin blades are hell to forge and they all have some undulation in surfaces and that is just the way they were and are but I can assure you they are the perfect medieval addition to your soldiers kit.

Edge sharpness
Semi-Sharp is 'butter knife sharp'; it has a very fine flat on the edge. Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.

THE CLIP POINT FALCHION
Popular in most of Western Europe, this falchion style of short single edged sword was typical of the 14thC and features a straight back with a long sweeping cutting edge and a long clip point allowing for both powerful cuts and wicked thrusts. The blade may be broad, but the use of fullers a radically thinning blade profile and both the clip point and sharpened false edges make this far manoeuvrable than it would at first seem from pictures alone. Well suited to professional fighting men.
Sword comes complete with a period appropriate leather covered, wood cored scabbard and belt with copper alloy fittings. Sword is hand forged, hardened and tempered from EN45 steel and comes semi-sharp as standard.
